Lyre Magazine

Editorial Design

Lyre Magazine is an undergraduate student-run literary magazine that features creative writing, artwork, and other forms of literary expression on an annual basis.

Urgent: Designer Needed

The 4th edition of the magazine was incomplete and approaching their print deadline fast. As a flexible person, I incorporated myself into the team and worked weekends until it was completed. I provided both artistic direction and my graphic design knowledge to complete the magazine. We had a final print run of 2000 copies distributed throughout all three SFU campuses.

Round Two

Afterwards, I continued my work with the 5th edition as a result of my dedication and quality of work. I created print and digital promotional material advertising two competitions run by the magazine. My artistic direction cemented which student illustrations and photographs best worked for the magazine. The budget expanded to include 15 more pages and a bigger print run. Special care was given to foreign language poetry and poetry with predetermined layouts.

Departure

I later surprised my team with buttons during the release party to help raise brand awareness. Before my departure, I created a brand style guide for the next editorial designer in line.
